Severe droughts and desertification are effective in some regions. The length and time of the seasons vary. Plant and animal species that are adversely affected by all these climate changes are either decreasing or disappearing completely. Every negative change in the world ultimately affects people again.

   Although these seem like distant facts to us besides our daily personal problems, we actually started to experience climate change and its effects. So this is what the individual shakes a little time to think about the subject, we can already come to slow down the flow and pass Turkey unfortunately even in respect of measures taken so far behind on global warming. We can start by fulfilling our individual responsibility by learning and telling our environment.

  • Getting the Right Information

  • Energy-saving

   Energy consumption is the main cause of global warming. Of course, individual energy consumption may seem like tiny amounts compared to industrial consumption, but when everyone saves their own savings, the small savings made by billions of people turn into something big. Moreover, you can save energy by consuming less, i.e. not buying things you don’t really need. For example, we got used to natural gas comfort very easily. We got used to it so easily that we open natural gas to the end in winter and walk around the house with a shirt. However, by keeping the combi in a certain setting and wearing thicker clothes, we both consume less energy and protect our pockets.

   The same thing happens when we exaggerate the comfort of air conditioning in the summer. We think all cars and offices have to be cold as if it were in winter. In fact, this is a situation that seriously impairs our health. When you enter a place where the air conditioner is fully open when the weather is very hot outside, our body suddenly undergoes a change in temperature. This will cause us to be sick at that moment and also disrupt the thermostat settings of our body. In short, unless there is an unbearable situation, you can open the windows instead of the air conditioner of your car. 

   You can prevent the production of up to 900 kg of carbon dioxide per year by increasing the cold setting of your air conditioner at home by two degrees, that is, by enduring only two degrees more heat. You can replace regular light bulbs and fluorescent bulbs in your home or office with energy saving bulbs. Thus, you generate less greenhouse gases. On the other hand, it helps you reduce your bill. It is useful to review your installation before changing the bulbs. Because energy-saving light bulbs are a bit expensive compared to the normal ones, and defective installation can cause these bulbs to deteriorate quickly.

   Take short showers to consume less energy and water. Wait for the laundry and dishes to accumulate sufficiently before using the washing machine and dishwasher. It may be a good idea to wash the dishes in the machine to save water, but keep in mind that if you do not fill the machine enough, you are wasting electricity unnecessarily and causing more heavy chemicals such as dish soap to get into the water. Do not make excuses just because something will happen. Habits are earned by doing.

  • Switch power tools off and unplug

   Actually, we can handle this issue within energy saving, but it is not so important that it is useful to elaborate. Turn off the lights when we are not using it. This doesn’t just hurt you financially. As fossil fuels are used to generate electricity, the air becomes polluted. Likewise, do not leave on or even unplug all electrical appliances such as televisions, computers, and heaters. This is twice the savings, as you will save energy and extend the life of these tools. Leaving electrical appliances in the standby does not mean turning them off. Appliances continue to consume electricity even if it is very little. By paying attention to such small details, you will reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 10 percent, even more than your family size.

  • Change your urban and intercity travel style

   You can make your long-distance or urban travels with shared vehicles. If you are going to your hometown in the summer and there is a place in your vehicle, inform the people you think will go to the country and share your vehicle with them. You can use shared vehicle applications while going to work. Sharing your journey with someone who works in the same area as you reduces both traffic and environmental pollution. Going short distances on foot is the same. Moreover, it also benefits your health.

   Although it is less possible in metropolises, bicycles are a great means of transportation. Once you get used to it, we have no doubt that you will use it especially in summer. If you have to drive, have your vehicle serviced on time. If even 1% of motor vehicle owners regularly maintain their vehicle, the production of more than 450 thousand tons of carbon dioxide per year can be prevented. In addition, driving the vehicle slowly also saves fuel and every 4 liters of gasoline saved means preventing 10 kg of carbon dioxide from mixing into the air.

  • Plant trees, throw seeds, cheer up the soil

If this is not possible, plant trees, seeds, whatever you can find in the lands around your house, in the entrances in front of the apartment, in your pots. Teach your children the value of plants.    Trees that take the carbon in the air and give the oxygen to our breath also block the wind in winter and prevent the cooling caused by evaporation. The colder the weather, the lower the heating bills of our homes. In the summer, we can reduce the need for cooling and reduce the energy bill and therefore the use of fossil fuel thanks to the shade of the trees. Therefore, the damage we inflict on a small sapling or even the benefit of a small sapling we plant returns to us.

  • Use solar and wind energy

   Solar energy is one of the clean energies. You can obtain hot water, heat your home and generate electrical energy without disturbing the balance of nature. Insist on the promotion and support of clean energy from local governments or governments.

  Whenever possible, be careful to buy products that are produced with good agricultural practices or organic. Organic farmed soil filters much larger amounts of carbon dioxide than chemically cultivated soil.   • Use recyclable products

Always throw garbage such as glass, cardboard and plastic into recycling waste. Even if it’s not very close to your home, there is definitely a recycling bin two blocks away.

   If it is not that close, put it in a separate garbage bag from the other garbage so it is easy to separate. Never incinerate garbage. Use less heavy chemicals such as bleach. Take care to pollute the environment less.
